The Process Controls Technician will be proficient in supporting operations and maintenance at LaSalle Lumber Company. The position will utilize process controls systems to increase the throughput, quality, safety, and reliability of the Company’s processes. Pay will be based on experience and quallifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide onsite troubleshooting and repair of Mill’s equipment.

• Implement process controls standards and ensure all future capital investments within the facility follows the new standard.

• Validate documentation drawings accurate and in place for all current and future equipment.

• Implement programming guidelines and standards.

• Design, program, modify, and maintain PLC, Drives, and HMI systems.

• Manage implementation of upgrades and new technology.

• Develop and implement control strategies.

• Work with Management and Contractors to specify and install systems.

• Create instrumentation and control system specifications.

• Support on-call and maintenance schedule duties at the plant.

Safety

• Comply with all company OHSA regulated safety codes

• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations

• Ensures all safety related standards and activities are implemented in a proper, consistent manner on an ongoing basis

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE FOR POSITION

• Experience in Automation or Process Control.

• Experience in Industrial Control Systems (PLCs, motor controls, control valves, industrial instrumentation for positioning, flow, level, pressure, & temperature).

• Process Control Networking.

• HMI/SCADA Maintenance and Design.

• 2-year Technical/Vocational degree, OR Associate’s Degree or Higher Required

• Industrial electrical knowledge, including both power (480VAC) and control circuits.

• Experience working within a lumber processing operation preferred.

• Server and PC knowledge (Windows, Linux, etc.).

• Prior experience in a plant maintenance department.

• Preferred platforms and standards: Rockwell Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View, Rockwell Powerflex and Kinetix drives, Ethernet/IP communication protocols.
